Names Lin Freeman

It was Sandra’s letter on this page That caught my eye and held my gaze.

I had always visualised Viv as a she: Neat and tidy, full of glee. Relaxed and calm, scribbling poems on her knee.

And now suddenly I realise it could be he.

Of course others can cause the same mistake

Pat and Jo, an interesting couple might make!

Back in the past we struggled with the spelling of some.

Leslie or Lesley, how do you remember which one?

So often a name conjures up a face Someone known from somewhere, some place.

Elizabeth, regal like the Queen. Diana, a natural beauty with radiant sheen.

Popular names come and then go. How many Gertrudes and Alfreds now do you know?

April and May are replaced by Spring and Summer.

June becomes Autumn, just to name another.

I wonder how many keep the birth name bestowed

Or is it kept hidden so nobody knows!
