Having social support can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, according to a new study.
Researchers from New York University have found that people who have someone available to listen to them for most of the time had a brain age on average four years younger than those who didn’t have anyone.
Lead researcher Joel Salinas MD said: “This study adds to growing evidence that people can take steps – either for themselves or the people they care about most – to slow down cognitive ageing or prevent the development of symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.”
