Two more die with Covid-19 as county sees further 528 cases

A FURTHER 528 cases of coronaviru­s have been reported across Derbyshire while two more people have died within 28 days of a positive test for the virus.

The latest official figures published yesterday revealede there were 119 positive tests in Derby in the latest 24hour reporting period, plus 409 across the wider Derbyshire area.

It means there have now been a total of 116,367 confirmed cases of the virus across Derby and Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic. The new deaths were in Chesterfie­ld and Derby.

The latest update showed the biggest increase outside of Derby was in Amber Valley, where 72 positive tests were returned. The lowest number of new cases was in Bolsover, with 31.

Nationally there were 31,564 new positive coronaviru­s cases bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 7,496,543 as of 9am yesterday.

Meanwhile, there were 203 deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test, meaning the toll now stands at 135,455.
