Unlucky moggy has to be rescued
This black cat was caught in netting at Swadlincote’s old market building AN adventurous cat chasing birds was left struck and balancing precariously on its front paws in the air after getting struck in netting at an old market building.
The not-so-lucky black cat had to be rescued by firefighters after it became entangled in netting designed to stop pigeons getting inside the building in Swadlincote town centre.
The black moggy was found in the rather undignified position balancing face-down on top of an electricity box on a high wall in the town’s former indoor market hall, having been chasing birds. Her front paws were on the box with her back leg tangled in the netting.
Firefighters from Swadlincote Fire Station were called to the scene on Saturday afternoon.
The fire crews used ladders to reach the cat and cut her free from her ordeal.
She was not too badly injured, firefighters said, and she was collected by the RSPCA who took her to the vet for a check-up.
