Award nomination tops exciting 18 months for growing law family

-

THE FAMILY department at law firm Nelsons has been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award.

Made up of 24 employees, who work across the firm’s three offices in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, the specialist team has fought off competition to make it into the final six in the ‘Family Law Firm of the Year – Midlands and Wales’ category at this year’s Family Law Awards.

Introduced to recognise the important work family lawyers do, and celebrate their successes and achievements, the awards were established in 2011 and are made up of 18 categories – both regional and national.

Emma Davies, partner and solicitor leading Nelsons’ family law team, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted in this year’s Family Law Awards. Every single member of the team goes above and beyond to empower our clients, at what can often be an incredibly stressful period of their lives, and steer them through the complex legal issues they face.

“The last 18 months have seen the department go from strength to strength. In December 2020, Nelsons acquired award-winning Leicester family solicitors and mediators Glynis Wright & Co, which saw our team welcome nine more lawyers and bolster our alternative dispute resolution services. It’s an incredibly exciting time for us as we continue to grow and I couldn’t be more pleased that the team’s hard work has been recognised at such a high level.”

Stewart Vandermark, chief executive at Nelsons, said: “Our vision is to become the strongest and biggest family law department in the East Midlands, and this news is a testament to the hard work and dedication everyone’s putting in every day to achieve this ambitious goal. The team is thoroughly deserving of this accolade and I wish them the best of luck in November.”

The winners will be announced on 24 November at The Bloomsbury Big Top in London.
