A DERBY business which has more than tripled in size since setting up two years ago has welcomed its seventh new member – and been shortlisted for two prestigious national awards.

Vibrant Accountancy, based in Duffield Road, has welcomed 27-year-old Zoe Bishop to its growing team.

Zoe joins Vibrant – who have been shortlisted for New Firm of the Year in the Accounting Excellence awards, with co-founder Bev Wakefield making the final 10 of the Innovator of the Year category at the Women in Finance awards - as a senior accountant, specialising in bookkeeping, annual accounts and VAT management.

The appointment sees Zoe link up with Bev and fellow cofounder Ian Ball, Samantha CarterRoe, Vibrant’s chief book-keeper, office coordinator Lynn McCabe, Emma Vicars; head of accounting and Lauren Hiller, their Head of Tax.

“I am absolutely over the moon to have joined Vibrant Accountancy,” said Zoe, from Chaddesden.

“I admire their ethos; they want to ‘shake-up’ the industry which is often considered ‘stuffy.’

“They champion fellow small businesses and there is a great vibe here, too. It’s a close-knit team and I’ve been made to feel very welcome.

“I have been given flexibility, freedom and responsibility at Vibrant and the team has so much experience, too. I’m looking forward to learning more from them and expanding my skills.”

Vibrant Accountancy recently celebrated its second birthday with a new relaunch of its website and cofounder Bev has been reflecting on the last couple of years.

She said: “Ian and I set up Vibrant Accountancy with the aim of disrupting the market and using hard work, imagination, skill and a desire to be different to grow our business. “Yes, there have been challenges we have had to overcome, mainly as a result of Covid, but everyone has been in the same boat; we’re coming out the other side, now and Vibrant Accountancy are in a great place. “We currently serve 80 individuals alongside around 100 companies or partnerships, largely SMEs with turnovers between £250,000 and £3m, in the East Midlands. “Despite our growth, though, we want to continue to stay true to our core values, which are to offer an arm around the shoulder and an easy-to-understand approach to our clients’ finances.

“We are champions of small businesses and local talent, and Zoe complements our team perfectly. “She’s talented, ambitious and has a can-do attitude.

“We’re excited to see what she can bring to the team.”
