Three more virus deaths in 24 hours

A FURTHER 645 cases of coronaviru­s have been reported across Derbyshire while three more people have died within 28 days of a positive test for the virus.

The deaths were recorded in Derby, Amber Valley and Erewash.

The latest official figures published yesterday reveal that there were 167 positive tests in Derby in the latest 24 hour reporting period, plus 478 across the wider Derbyshire area.

It means there have now been a total of 117,012 confirmed cases of the virus across Derby and Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic.

The new deaths were in Chesterfie­ld and Derby.

The latest update showed that the biggest increase outside of Derby was in Amber Valley, where 80 positive tests were returned.

The lowest number of new cases was in Derbyshire Dales, with 40.
