It’s time that we protected Derby’s heritage
LAST week it became apparent that Derby’s planning committee needs to address the concerns of Unesco, which has put in doubt the World Heritage Site Status of the Derwent Valley Mills owing to inappropriate development at the site.
Derby’s old Silk Mill – now the wonderful Museum of Making – is to be overshadowed by a 17-storey development on the other side of Cathedral Green. We must stem the tide of excessively high-rise development in Derby and protect our heritage. Let’s keep what is good in Derby and bring it to life for future generations. Cllr
