Around 27% of UK people unvaccinated
BOOSTER jabs of Covid-19 vaccine are now being rolled out across the UK for people aged 50 and over or who are clinically vulnerable – but millions of people have still not had even one dose.
Just over 27% of the population is currently estimated to be unvaccinated, according to the latest figures.
This is the equivalent of 18.4 million people.
Nearly a third (5.7 million) of this total are aged 16 and over and are therefore eligible to get the vaccine right now.
A further 3.2 million are aged 12 to 15, and have just started to be offered a first jab.–
Northern Ireland has the highest proportion of people unvaccinated among the four UK nations.
An estimated 31% of the population has not received any Covid-19 vaccine, or around 588,000 people.
In England, an estimated 28% of the population is unvaccinated – the equivalent of around 15.7 million people.
Among those aged 16 and over, the percentage is around one in nine (11%).
Just under a quarter of the population of Wales (24%) has not received any Covid-19 vaccine – the equivalent of around 773,000 people, while Scotland has given a first dose of vaccine to a higher percentage of its population than any other UK nation – just over 76%.
