£100k drug find shocks neighbours

-

SURPRISED neighbours said they “would never have dreamed in a million years” a house would contain cannabis after police discovered £100,000 of plants.

Officers said they found 139 plans after being called to a terraced home in Barber Street, Eastwood. Senior inspectors said the plants had been growing in the two bedrooms of the property, the living room and loft.

But the news has unsettled neighbours who live down the road.

Retired Irene Morris, 76, said she had been left upset and had never seen anything which looked suspicious. “I’ve only lived here a year, this seems like a nice and quiet area and, as long as I’ve been here, it’s been lovely,” the Eastwood resident said. “I can’t believe it, everyone looks so friendly but then again you can’t go by looks.

“You don’t want those sort of things down the street. You wouldn’t dream in a million years that was going to happen down here.”

The grow was taken apart by Nottinghamshire Police on Monday morning and officers said growing equipment had been “deactivated”.
