A50 closed because of woman on bridge

THE A50 was closed in both directions after police received reports of a woman on a bridge.

Leicestershire Police attended a bridge over the A50 near Castle Donington and closed the main road in both directions on Wednesday at around 7.50pm.

The woman came down of her own accord and was taken away from the scene to a safe place. The road was reopened shortly afterwards. A spokesperson from Leicestershire Police said: “Police attended and in order to ensure the safety of the woman, motorists and officers, the A50 was closed in both directions.”
