It doesn’t have to be all gloom for Rams

-

DERBY COUNTY has a chequered history when it comes to ownership. Like Many others, I thought Mel Morris would make a big difference and finally the club would be back in the Premier League.

But it was not to be. And Derby are not alone in seemingly betting on getting into the Premier League, failing and having to suffer the consequences.

While some clubs yo-yo between the divisions, others such as Sunderland, Blackpool and QPR are among those to have suffered financial woes after reaching the top table.

Sometimes, excessive ambition is a bad thing. But for an uplifting thought, Rams fans could look down the road to Leicester City, who dropped to League One before regrouping under a new owner who has transformed the club into a thing of pride for Foxes fans. It can be done.
