Relax by Lin Freeman

I’m sitting in my garden this morning.

Relaxed to the point of yawning!

Watching the squirrels hop around To source the peanuts laid out on the ground.

On the lawn I can see rain drops still abound

Sparkling like expensive jewels in a crown.

A hierarchy exists in this little plot. The magpies filling the second slot. In black and white, bossy and bright Despite their nasty habits, they are a charming sight.

Now the sentinel crow has announced food is here. Down come the rooks, with no sense of fear.

Clever these birds so full of tricks Dipping in water their chosen picks.

The pigeons should be next to come for a bath.

Their antics when washing will cause you to laugh.

The cat has fallen asleep in the sun.

Now too lazy to chase and run. He peacefully lays in the shade of our trees.

Leaving the visitors to come as they please.

Finally small birds arrive out of nowhere,

Settle on the feeders which were topped up with care.

Suet balls, seeds and nuts, they’ll find there.

The goodies drop down on the grass for all to share.

The raspberry bushes will feed the rest.

In fact some think that is the best!

Today no noise from Donington track.

The silence is deafening, I’m so thankful for that.

Relaxation time we all deserve To watch that bee on a bush; or butterflies observe.

If you can find ten minutes of time for just you.

Then sit quietly and enjoy the view.
