Get that festival feeling

This week, ex-Radio 6 host Shaun Keaveny gets the lowdown on stars’ dream musical line-ups, there’s a sci-fi drama and a treat for James Bond fans

- LAURA DAVIS Podcasts Editor

FORMER BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Shaun Keaveny doesn’t mess around. He bid an emotional farewell to his 14-year career with the station earlier this month and he’s already released a podcast.

His many devoted fans will be delighted by this (some even made their own farewell T-shirts to mark the loss of their daily listen) not least because the format gives the DJ the chance to do what he does best – be as silly as possible while taking music very seriously.

Each guest is tasked with creating a dream festival – the location, name and five acts.

First up is Imagine Dragons singer-songwriter Dan Reynolds, who puts The Beatles lower on the bill than, well, the entire rest of his imaginary lineup.

WHERE TO START:

With only two episodes released so far, the second with singersongwriter Joy Crookes, you’ll be up to date in no time.

THE STRANGE CASE OF STARSHIP IRIS

Biologist Violet Lieu is the only remaining survivor on board her research ship, and with only eight days of fuel left she is facing her own death when a human voice comes over the communications system.

As this podcast is now into its second series, it’s not giving anything away to say that she doesn’t end up expiring alone but is transported to an unknown ship that seems to be cobbled together from old parts.

The Strange Case of Starship Iris is a witty, exciting drama that leaves you wanting more at the end of every episode.

And it’s penned by one of the staff writers of the brilliant Midwestern gothic podcast Unwell, which you should also subscribe to.

WHERE TO START:

Episode one in which Violet hears from an old classmate – or does she?
