A52 to close for overnight roadworks

PART of the A52 in Derbyshire is to close for a week of overnight roadworks from tonight.

Derbyshire County Council will be resurfacin­g a stretch of the main road at Yeldersley, near Ashbourne.

A road closure will be in place from 6pm until 6am each night from tomorrow evening, Monday, September 27, until Friday, October 1, to allow the work to be carried out.

A county council spokespers­on said: “We’ll be resurfacin­g part of the A52 next week near Yeldersley (Osmaston crossroads) so will need to close the road while work takes place. This is part of our programme of work to improve roads across the county. Diversions will be in place and if you will be affected by the closure please accept our apologies for any inconvenie­nce.”

■■Porter Road, Normanton: A closure is set to be in force to allow three days of Severn Trent Water works to be carried out from today until Wednesday, near the road’s junction with Almond Street.

■■The Covert, Spondon: Derby City Council will be carrying out road surface repairs starting on Wednesday. A road closure in place between 8am and 3pm each weekday until Monday, October 4. Residents and visitors have been told to find alternativ­e parking to ensure work can take place.

■■Balaclava Road, Derby: Western Power Distributi­on is set to be working carrying out electrical works on Sunday. A diversion route will be in place.

■■Tennant Street, Derby: Derby City Council has enforced a temporary disabled parking bay suspension to allow works to be carried out. Alternativ­e blue badge parking is available outside the Assembly Rooms in Full Street for the duration of an 18-week project, which started last month and is expected to be completed in January.

■■Osmaston Road, Allenton: A six-week Derby City Council resurfacin­g project got under way earlier this month between its junctions with Ascot Drive and Russell Street. A road closure is in force between 9.30am to 3.30pm each weekday to allow the work, which is expected to be completed by October 13, to be carried out.

■■Pentagon Island, Derby: A major roadworks project, expected to take 20 weeks to complete, got under way at Derby’s Pentagon Island last month. The traffic lights are being replaced with the aim to have work finished before Christmas.
