Spend money on castle restoration
THE excellent Woodlands Festival at Elvaston Castle last weekend posed no traffic problems or hold-ups to and from the site, and parking arrangements ran smoothly.
I assume this is one of the largest events of the year at the country park. So why on earth do Derbyshire County Council think it justified to construct a new two-lane access road through the middle of the park and build two new car parks adjacent to the nature reserve, costing at least £10 million.
If this money is available, it would be far better to spend it on the castle, drainage, and restoration of the unique, historically important gardens, and leave untouched the rest of this green oasis.
