Mountain rescuers help crash victims

-

DERBYSHIRE Mountain rescuers found one of their training exercises turned into a real-life rescue following a traffic collision.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team were running an exercise around the Shelf Moor area about a missing fell runner. They found the “runner” after two hours but then the exercise took a more realistic turn.

The group’s Facebook post said: “While the team was carrying out the exercise, our link vehicle, which was operating from Snake Summit, was approached by numerous members of the public asking us for help following a collision between a motorcycle and a car just above Cabin Clough.”

Members made their way to the scene and carried out “vital, lifesaving treatment”.

A short time later the North West Air Ambulance arrived at the scene, along with Derbyshire police and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue crews. An off-duty nurse was also at the scene, caring for the casualty before the mountain rescue team arrived.
