Sandy is feeling ‘unstoppable’ after latest win

HAVING shown off her skills on her debut, Sandy Ryan turned on the power for her second win as a professional.

Crushing body shots took the 28-year-old from Derby to a fourthround stoppage against the battlehardened Aleksandra Vujovic in Milan.

It was another highly impressive display to mark Ryan’s transition to the paid ranks and left her feeling “unstoppable” in the super-lightweight division.

Ryan said after her debut points win against Kirstie Bavington in July that she intended to show she could blow opponents away as well as outskill them and she delivered with a measured finish against Vujovic.

“It’s what me and Clifton (trainer Clifton Mitchell) intended to do. We wanted to stop this girl,” she said. “I boxed a different way this time. I’m not a one-trick pony.

“I didn’t want to rush it. I didn’t want to look messy. I wanted to show what I’m capable of and the more fights come, the more you’ll see, but I’m happy with that.

“I think with a girl like that if you’re going to be messy you’re not going to get her out of there because she’s tough as nails. You’ve got to pick them right and you’ve got to be accurate.

“As a pro, I feel much more comfortable in there. I can pick my shots and when I’m in a pro ring I feel good. When I’m in a pro ring I feel unstoppable.”

Vujovic, a 30-year-old born in Montenegro but based in Serbia, did not bring a great record to the fight, having won only four and drawn two of her previous 20 pro bouts, but she had only been stopped once and that was four years ago.

Ryan was completely in control through the first half of the scheduled six-rounder and closed for a finish in the fourth.

A left under the ribs put Vujovic on her backside late in the round and though she bounced back to her feet that time, Ryan picked out another sickening blow to the same spot seconds later, leaving her opponent doubled up in pain and unable to go on.

The contest was stopped after one minute and 47 seconds of the fourth.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is looking to send her out again in December and Ryan said she is happy to bide her time in order to achieve her ambition to dominate the division.

“There’s more to come. I’ve got the right team behind me – my trainer, my manager and my bro. I’m in a great position and I’m going to put on good performances,” she said.

“I want to be

moved correctly, not rushed. I’m not in boxing to make a bit of money and get out of it. I’m in it to win world titles.

“I believe I can be the best at super-lightweight.

“We’ll keep on moving up and then we’ll win the world titles.”
