Applications call for charity grant funds

-

WORTHY causes in Matlock are being invited to apply for funding grants from a historic North Derbyshire charity.

The Ernest Bailey Charity is named after Ernest Bailey, who was born in 1870 and owned Bailey’s Flour Mills in Lumsdale.

In 1924 he founded the former Ernest Bailey Grammar School in Matlock’s New Street.

Now the charity is under the trusteeship of Derbyshire Dales District Council and it is inviting good causes in the area to apply for funding from the grant.

This includes Matlock, Matlock Bath, Bonsall, Cromford, Darley Dale, Northwood and Tinkersley, part of Rowsley, South Darley, Starkholmes and Tansley.

The closing date for applications is Friday, October 15. If you think your organisation qualifies and would like to apply for money, you can do via the Derbyshire Dales District Council website.

There are a number of ways the charity funds are distributed.

These include for the relief of the elderly and poor, those of distress and sickness, to support facilities for recreation and other leisure activities, to support educational facilities and in other such ways as the trustees see fit.
