Three-vehicle collision closes A50

A THREE-vehicle crash involving a car, caravan and a lorry closed part of the A50 in Derbyshire.

The westbound stretch between junction four for Toyota Island and junction five for Hilton was shut just before 12.10pm yesterday to allow for the recovery of the vehicles. the occupants of the vehicles escaped injury.

A large amount of debris can be seen in an image released by Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit, showing the aftermath of the collision.

A spokespers­on for the unit said at 10am yesterday: “The A50 westbound junction 4 A38 Toyota to junction 5 A516 Hilton will shortly be closed to allow the recovery of this car, caravan and lorry. No reported injuries.”

Later, two lanes of the A38 in Derby were closed after a collision yesterday afternoon.

One lane on the northbound stretch was shut from Kingsway to Markeaton Island and one lane was closed on the southbound side. The accident appeared to involved two vehicles. It is not known if there were any injuries.
