New deal for Gordon?

-

LIVERPOOL are reportedly ready to offer former Derby County academy player Kaide Gordon his first professional contract.

The attacking midfielder turned 17 on Tuesday, meaning he is now eligible to sign a first professional deal that could last up to three years.

Kaide Gordon, brother of fellow Derby academy product Kellan Gordon, joined Liverpool in February 2021 in a deal that could be worth more than £3million to the Rams. He made one competitive appearance for the club, coming off the bench against Birmingham City in 2020.

The 17-year-old has impressed in his short time with the Premier League club, scoring on his Under23s debut and making his first senior start against Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.

According to the Liverpool Echo, a new deal is in the pipeline.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for the youngster after playing 90 minutes against Norwich: “Kaide is good and has a lot of things to improve, a lot of things to settle, a lot of things to learn, but a lot of things are already there.

“We are really happy to have him around and we will treat him carefully. I’m really happy that he is here. He is a big talent.

“The first thing Kaide said to me after the game, he said ‘thank you!’

“But there was nothing to be thankful about, he deserved it.”
