It will be very merry, bright – and even snowy – at Chatsworth this Yuletide

-

IT seems like something which has always been there, much like the house itself, but remarkably Chatsworth will be celebrating Christmas for only the 20th year in 2021.

Tickets are now on sale for the festive treat which annually attracts people from all over the country to North Derbyshire.

The Magic of Christmas will see the estate looking back on the last two decades of celebrating the festive season with the new standout feature being the snow installation in the Inner Court.

A newly installed lamp post will bring to mind snowy scenes from Narnia while the staterooms will have a nod to Christmas’ past from the traditional Victorian era to the world of Charles Dickens and the imaginary worlds of Mr Toad and Alice in Wonderland.

A spokesperson for the Chatsworth estate said: “Following its successful introduction last year, there will once again be a festive light installation in the garden to make a Christmas visit last even longer. Visitors can enjoy an illuminated walk around the garden, with atmospheric lighting bringing a festive sparkle on a route past the Emperor Fountain, Rock Garden and the Cascade surrounded by hundreds of glowing lights.”

As well as the new attractions, the annual Christmas market will return with more than 100 stalls sitting on Lodge Hill, next to the house from November 6 to 24.

Some other activities and attractions are being kept under wraps in Chatsworth’s festive sack to be revealed at a later date.

Christmas officially gets under way at the stately home on Saturday, November 6 and runs until Sunday, January 9, 2022.

Tickets are on sale now. They are priced at £26 for adults, £15 for children and £70 for a family ticket (two adults and up to three children).

It includes access to the house, garden and farmyard, as well as car parking and access to the Christmas market.
