This Morning is sliding into state of disrepair

-

AS someone who works in the care sector, I often catch snippets of television programmes while I am cleaning the bedrooms of those in the home where I work (it allows me to engage with them at the same time) and October 5 was no different.

As a general rule the residents in the care home where I work tend to watch either the BBC or ITV.

I came into one of the residents’ bedrooms and they had This Morning on and I arrived just as they were starting to interview a couple in wheelchairs.

For those who haven’t seen or heard this story, a couple are thinking about suing a water park after they broke in while drunk and decided to slide naked down a chute. They crashed into a metal bar at the bottom of the chute, causing extensive injuries to the legs on both of them.

Who in their right mind at ITV sanctioned this interview? I am sorry that the couple, who are friends in their 40s, got injured, but I have no sympathy whatsoever as to how they got injured.

I appreciate that for those who are housebound for whatever reason, these shows are a lifeline, but I think that a lot of the topics that feature are dreamt up by someone who has too much time on their hands.

Another subject on This Morning was along the lines of: Has The Pandemic Caused Our Cats To Be Scared! If the producers and researchers of these and other magazine shows can’t find sensible things to discuss, then it is perhaps time to either shorten the length of the show or stop the show.
