Arctic toll...

THE ORDEAL IS FINALLY OVER FOR THE SURVIVING CREW OF THE VOLUNTEER... BUT WILL ANYONE GET A SAFE ENDING?

-

AS THIS chiller about a doomed ship barrels towards its conclusion, it’s hard to predict whether anyone still alive will be murdered, freeze to death or simply die from starvation.

It’s fair to say, it has been a nightmarish journey so far for the people on board mid-19th century whaling vessel The Volunter, in the Arctic.

There has been plotting and manipulation, and some clubbing to death of seals – a crew has got to eat.

Since then, ships have been sunk, men have been killed with knives and whalebones, and no one is to be trusted.

In this finale, Patrick Sumner, played by Jack O’Connell, wakes up in a mission cabin, where a missionary priest has nursed him back to health.

With the counsel of the priest and the example of his Inuit saviours, Sumner begins to piece himself together.

The Inuit hunters believe that Sumner has special powers after finding him ‘reborn’ from a polar bear – he had actually killed it and used its carcass for shelter.

As spring arrives, Sumner returns to Hull to seek out Baxter, played by Sir Tom Courtenay, claim his wages, and start the next chapter of his life.

But is Sumner walking into a trap? And has he really seen the last of Drax (Colin Farrell)?

Sumner is determined to bring Drax to justice, but one thing you can be sure of, nothing is going to end well.
