Problems lead to delay for roadworks

-

THE completion of a major roadworks project which has seen closures enforced along a busy Derby route has been delayed by a week.

Derby City Council has been resurfacing Osmaston Road, in Allenton, over the past five weeks, with road closures in force for six hours on weekdays.

The project, which has been taking place between the road’s junctions with Ascot Drive and Russell Street, was expected to be completed by this Wednesday.

But the council has confirmed that due to the “recent bad weather” and “contractor resourcing issues” this has been pushed back by nearly a week to Tuesday, October 19.

A road closure is in force between 9.30am to 3.30pm each weekday to allow the work to be carried out. A diversion route is in place for motorists via Ascot Drive, London Road, Bradshaw Way, and Osmaston Road.

T-Mobile telecoms works are set to take place in Keldholme Lane, Alvaston, near the roundabout where motorists can access Elvaston Lane later this week.

Temporary traffic lights will be in operation to allow the work to take place between Friday and Monday, October 18, according to the one. network website.

Derby City Council will be carrying out road surface repairs in Rydal Close, Allestree this week.

Starting today, a road closure will be in place between 8am and 3pm each day until Wednesday.

Residents and visitors have been told to find alternative parking to ensure work can take place.

The council also started work to resurface the whole of Pear Tree Road, in Normanton, between its junctions with Normanton Road and Dairy House Road, last Thursday.

Work is expected to be carried out within a road closure between 8am and 6pm each weekday until Thursday, October 28.

A diversion route will be in place for motorists via Normanton Road, Lara Croft Way, Osmaston Road, Dairy House Road, and Pear Tree Road.

Road closures will be in force on five separate stretches along Pear Tree Road at different stages over the course of the three-week project.

The A57 Snake Pass, which runs through the Peak District, will remain closed until Friday, October 15.

Derbyshire County Council roadworks started last week to allow the local authority to give the road “a bit of a spruce up” ahead of the winter months.
