Yet another death ...and 885 new Covid cases across county

ANOTHER covid death has been recorded in Derbyshire, according to the latest data from NHS England.

Another coronaviru­s-related fatality was registered at Chesterfie­ld Royal Hospital where 440 people have now died from the virus.

According to NHS England, 2,204 people have now died from the virus across the region’s NHS trusts.

Last night’s coronaviru­s update has also revealed that 885 new cases of coronaviru­s were found across the county.

Derby had the highest number of new cases, after 162 positive tests were returned.

Amber Vale had the second highest daily number of cases with 115 new cases.

Erewash had the fewest new cases with 75.

Nationally, the Government said a further 157 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 138,237.

Separate figures published by the Office for National Statistics show there have been 163,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificat­e.

As of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 45,066 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases in the UK, the Government said.
