Arriva needs to listen to its customers

-

MAY I echo the sentiments excellently expressed by J Glossop concerning the non-availability of printed bus timetables by Arriva (“Consider those without use of computers, September 30).

I, similarly, had enquired at the bus station office and the response was that Arriva had discontinued the publication of printed timetables. I was not over-surprised as I had learned that a situation had arisen in Leicester a couple of years ago concerning Arriva’s operations there.

Is it not possible for photocopies to be produced at a nominal fee from the Arriva’s website, or the county council’s public transport website?

The county council used to produce award-winning timetable books but these seem to have passed into oblivion.

If people are to be encouraged to use public transport, they need to know the full schedule of a service, not just when the next bus is due, as admirably illustrated by your correspondent.

I would also have imagined that the ratio of public transport users not inclined to computers would be greater than the general population.

Please let us at least have up-todate timetable information displayed in printed format at the bus station and city centre terminus.

Graham Thompson,

Sinfin
