Derbyshire coronavirus cases up by 774 as another death is registered
A TOTAL of 774 new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Derbyshire, according to the latest data from NHS England last night. ANOTHER coronavirus-related death, with 28 days of a positive test, has also been registered in our area.
The increase in cases is down on those in recent days, with rises of 885 and 876 in the past two updates.
But it continues to show the virus is circulating as the country heads into winter.
The newly recorded death linked to the virus was in Derby. It means 706 people have now died in Derby since the start of the pandemic, within 28 days of catching the virus.
Derby also saw the biggest daily rise in cases locally, with 178 new ones registered.
It’s important to note the daily deaths and cases did not necessarily take place in the last 24 hours but were recorded on the official statistics in that period.
Nationally the Government said a further 148 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 138,584.
This total is even higher when deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate are factored in - the total then is 161,798 UK deaths since the start of the pandemic.
