Green light for pub switch to 11 homes

-

THE site of a former South Normanton pub is to be transformed into 11 houses.

Bolsover Planning Committee has given the green light to a project which would mean the Blue Bell, in Leamington Drive in South Normanton, will be demolished to make way for housing.

The pub has long been vacant, with work expected to start on the site, which includes an extensive car park, within the next three years.

Houses would be positioned at the front of the plot where the car park sits, with an access road behind the homes and a number of parking spaces at the back.

There had been a number of concerns surrounding how much parking would be made available for the development with residents and South Normanton Council asking the question prior to approval being granted.

In all, 24 parking spaces are to be provided, however, the site was able to accommodate 20 cars previously so only four new spaces are earmarked.

The 11 houses, which was decreased by one from the first proposal, will consist of two-bedroom properties.

Floor plans show the two-bedroom houses will be built in the style of a “two up two down” house with the family bathroom separating the two bedrooms upstairs.

A downstairs toilet would also be built off the kitchen with the stairs taking up room in the joint lounge and dining area. Planting of new trees will also take place.

Planners have granted permission for the development, which will start with the demolition of the Blue Bell, however, a number of conditions have been attached to the transformation.
