PROTEST IS PART OF GLOBAL MOVE

-

THERE will be 16 global days of activism to highlight gender-based violence, and the Derby programme coordinated by Vox Feminarum.

They say: “March, chant, sing, bring banners, whistles / rattles, glow in the dark, speak up, chalk to express yourself, feel the solidarity and uplifting empowerment of joining together to demand change.

“You can simply show up to take part on the day but if you register we can record who marched for history records and keep you posted on the plans and banner making sessions in the lead up to the event.

“Join us at any point along the route which is accessible and suitable for anyone using a wheelchair, pushchair, or mobility scooter, and with dropped kerbs.”

■■6.15pm Derby Arboretum, by the café/toilets - we’ll be bright and loud and easy to find!

■■7.15pm-7.45pm The Spot (chalking action & Rebel Women’s Choir) before a shorter onwards march (if a shorter route is best for you, you can join us from this location or you can join us at the Rally below)

■■8.15pm Rally outside the Council House with inspiring speeches and poems

The add: “This march is inclusive of trans sisters; non-binary siblings who face the struggle against misogyny are welcome; supervised children of all genders welcome; BSL Interpreter available to sign speeches; friendly safety stewards, first aiders & women’s charities/ groups present.

“We invite supportive brothers and allies whose presence would not cause discomfort to join a Solidarity Vigil 8pm outside the Council House. More at www. eventbrite.co.uk/e/reclaim-thenight-derby-tickets-191416280247
