Cashin is so happy to net in front of ‘rocking’ away fans

DERBY County defender Eiran Cashin says Bloomfield Road was “rocking” thanks to the Rams supporters on Saturday.

Cashin scored the Rams’ second in a 2-0 away win against Blackpool, where the visitors were backed by 4,000 travelling fans.

Malcolm Ebiowei opened the scoring for the Rams. It was the first senior goals for both Rams youngsters.

“It was a good feeling and nice to get my first goal – and also get a clean sheet,” Cashin told RamsTV. “It was nice for the fans, they were great today and all season they have been immense.

“They were so loud today and it was properly rocking so it was nice to get them a win and they can enjoy that.

“We struggled a little bit today, especially at the start of the second half and they had a bit of momentum and that’s when you need people like Kelle Roos to stand up and be counted and make some good saves, and that’s what he did.

“He made some key saves at key moments, especially with the penalty save in the first half. But after that he made some great one-onone saves, so we have a lot to thank him for.

“That helped us then to compose ourselves and go again. And that’s what we did.”

Blackpool boss Neil Crithcley criticised his players for the goals they conceded against the Rams.

He told the Blackpool Gazette: “We weren’t as aggressive as I would have liked in the first half, I thought we were a little bit passive.

“We said at half-time just to go for it. If we get it wrong, we get it wrong.

“There’s a risk attached to that obviously and sometimes they broke the press a little bit and got through us. But we recovered.

“But as I say, I don’t think they had a shot and we won the ball back a lot. We were in the ascendancy a lot in the second half, we just couldn’t score.

“That final little bit eluded us. The goals we gave away were really poor and I suppose if you summed the whole season up, these things can happen in moments but they’ve happened too often this season.”

A FATHER who allowed his child to run on the pitch at Middlesbrough during Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Stoke City has been banned from the Riverside Stadium for life.

Boro, who have reinforced their zero tolerance approach to such incursions, have also identified four other youngsters who made their way on to the playing surface after the final whistle and promised to ban their parents too.

A club statement said: “During our game on Saturday against Stoke City, a child entered the field of play while the match was in progress, trivialising the importance of the game to our fans, town, players and management.

“He was encouraged to do so by his father who recorded the incident on his mobile phone.

“On returning to his father, our staff asked that they exit the stadium, only to be subject to abusive and threatening behaviour.

“Entering the pitch while the game is in progress will not be tolerated. Abusive and threatening behaviour to our staff will not be tolerated.

“To enter the pitch at any time is a criminal offence as is abusive and threatening behaviour.

“The father and child have been identified and with immediate effect the father is banned from the Riverside Stadium for life. We will encourage the police to take further action.”
