Dunstall, Rolleston keep 100% starts

- LEARN UK LTD DIVISION ONE

DUNSTALL and Rolleston both continued their 100% starts to the season with comfortable wins batting first in Learn UK Ltd Division One.

They are the only ones left unbeaten in the division.

Dunstall were put in by Cutthorpe at Deer Park and turned in a workmanlike rather than spectacular effort with the bat, being bowled out for 190 with eight balls of their 50 overs left.

In-form captain Callum Brodrick led the way with 69 from 80 balls, including 11 fours, but Dunstall were held up by Hashen Ramanayake’s 5-32 from 12 overs.

Jamie Benstead took 4-33, Tom Hill 2-29 and veteran spinner Martin Clewley polished the tail off with two wickets as Cutthorpe were bowled out for 142.

Rolleston’s 203-7 was 71 too many for Wirksworth & Middleton after the visitors put Tom Liversage’s side in.

Gareth Marshall scored a typically hard-earned 46, but Daryn Smit again dominated, hitting 95 from 114 balls. He was the last man out, from the last ball, as he just missed out on a second successive century.

Two quick wickets for Alex Brown and one for Graham Dent soon had Wirksworth’s reply on the back foot at 6-3 and while captain Michael Jefferiss battled to 36 from 92 balls, Brown, Liversage and Smit took three wickets each as they were bowled out for 132.

Sawley needed only 23 overs of their reply to record a comfortable seven-wicket win over South Wingfield, inflicting a first loss of their season on the opposition.

Renaldo Holder helped himself to 4-19 as Wingfield, despite the best efforts of opener Richard Fenn (65) were shot out for 136.

Led by Tom Beresford’s 57 and unbeaten knocks from James Lawton (39) and Holder (24), Sawley made light of the chase.

Duffield made 170 against Morton Colliery but were crushed by nine-wickets.

Tim Williscroft made 53 for Duffield but Alex Eyre hit 106not out in reply, his opening stand with Ashley Caunt reaching 152 as Morton coasted home.

Elvaston’s search for a first win continues but Clifton have theirs, winning away by 69 runs.

Despite Steve Bull’s (3-45) and Rob Kettlewell’s (2-23) best efforts with the ball, Clifton ran up a commanding 258-8, Moshin Ali top-scoring with 71.

Abid Zadran, in reply, made 55 and Jake Harrold 42 runs but Elvaston’s defeat was confirmed on 189 in the 45th over.

Rob Green took 5-27 as Ilkeston Rutland bowled out struggling Chesterfield for 112, then Dave Smit hit 56 not out as Ilkeston won by eight wickets.
