A DERBYSHIRE hotel and restaurant has been named one of the top 25 in the UK & Channel Islands by TripAdvisor.

Morley Hayes, a four-star and 32-bedroom hotel on Main Road in Morley, near Breadsall and West Hallam, was ranked 11th in TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice Awards.

The awards, which recognise the best hotels across Britain and the Channel Islands, highlighted just two hotels in the Midlands. Morley Hayes was also the only hotel in the East Midlands to be recognised by the travel website.

First place in this year’s awards went to The Resident Covent Garden in London. Also included in the Top 25 are The Resident Victoria, Royal Lancaster, Bankside Hotel, and Hotel 41, all in London.

The only other hotel in the Top 25 in the Midlands was the Fairlawns Hotel And Spa in Walsall. Only six of the Top 25 were outside London.

The hotel ranking is based on the reviews and ratings given by travellers on TripAdvisor, which features more than one billion reviews, covering nearly eight million businesses including hotels and accommodation, restaurants and attractions.

More than 97 per cent of visitors to the Morley Hayes Hotel ranked it ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’ on the website, with guests praising the venue’s “courteous staff”, “excellent food”, “beautiful surroundings”, and the “spotlessly clean” and “spacious” rooms.

Andrew Allsop, managing director at Morley Hayes, said: “To be recognised as one of the top 25 hotels in the UK by TripAdvisor yet again is a tremendous achievement for Morley Hayes and a reflection of the incredibly high standards we set ourselves.

“We are committed to customer excellence and work hard to deliver the highest possible standards. To be named alongside some of the finest establishments across Britain and the Channel Islands is hugely gratifying and is a testament to the whole team at Morley Hayes.

“My brother Robert and I would like to thank our wonderful staff whose hard work and dedication has enabled us to achieve this accolade – particularly over the past two years when they worked tirelessly to keep the hotel open to key workers throughout the various lockdowns.

“We strive to offer our customers an enjoyable and memorable experience, and this accolade is evidence that we are achieving our goals.”

Set in the Derbyshire countryside overlooking parkland golf courses, Morley Hayes boasts a choice of three restaurants, including the award-winning two AA rosette Dovecote restaurant, Roosters and Spike Bar.
