Rain can’t stop top two winning

CUTTHORPE retained their one-point lead in Division One with a rain-affected win against Wirksworth & Middleton.

They looked on for a quick win when Wirksworth slid to 48-6, Hashen Ramanayake and Saqib Hussain taking three wickets each, but Elliot Poplar went in at number eight and scored 86 not out to propel them to 193-9.

Rain revised Cutthorpe’s target to 119 from 23 overs and they got there in 19.5 overs with Ramanayake run out for 55 when only seven more were needed.

Rolleston are second after winning their rain-affected game at home to Elvaston, who were bowled out a ball short of 50 overs for 179, with Ben Liversage and Sam Jackson taking three wickets each.

Rolleston’s revised target was 156 from 39 overs and although they slipped to 57-3, Tom Liversage (56 not out) and Luke Jenkinson (43 not out) combined for an unbroken 120 to see them home in only the 27th over.

Dunstall slipped to third after suffering their second defeat of the season.

They found themselves chasing 234-9 set by Chesterfie­ld, who started with a stand of 100 between Yannick Leonard (44) and Harry Wilmott, who top-scored with 53.

Jamie Benstead and Alec Mason took three wickets each.

The reply was curtailed by rain at Queens Park and Dunstall’s revised target was 195 from 33 overs.

Matt Arnold was out without a run on the board, then two wickets fell at 54 and further ones at 84, 86 and 88, the middle one being captain Callum Brodrick for 46.

Only 36 from Tom Hill held Chesterfie­ld up after that and Dunstall were bowled out for 171.

Clifton scored 242-8 at home to Duffield, their overseas signing Mehran Ibrahim making his delayed debut with 61.

But Duffield sailed past a revised target of 225 from 46 overs by seven wickets, with Tim Williscrof­t making 87 and Paul Bakel 85 not out, the pair putting on 141 for the first wicket.

Rob Green took 4-21 and James Lockhart 3-33 as Ilkeston Rutland shot out South Wingfield for 98 and raced to an eight-wicket win in less than 20 overs.

Alexander Eyre made 125 for Morton Colliery, dominating their 227 all out at home to Sawley.

Opener Gary Birley was last man out for Sawley in their reply, for 73, as they came up 22 runs short, Saad Khattak taking 3-36.

Sandiacre Town seconds and Belper Meadows are joint leaders of Divisision Two.

Sandiacre declared their innings against West Hallam at 273-5 after 37.1 overs, Ben Trembling making 86, then bowled their visitors out for 158.

Michael Lidsey’s 97 not out led Belper’s 209-6 at home to Clowne Town, who they bowled out for 144.
