Three weeks of road closures begin
THREE weeks of daytime road closures have begun on a busy route into and out of Derby city centre.
Uttoxeter New Road will be closed between Uttoxeter Old Road and Drewry Court on weekdays between 9.30am and 3.30pm up until Friday, July 22. The Derby City Council-organised resurfacing work will include replacement of the road surface and road markings.
A diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via Uttoxeter Old Road, Ashbourne Road, Friar Gate, Agard Street, Ford Street, and Stafford Street. Lorries will be directed to use the A38 to avoid the weight restriction on Uttoxeter Old Road.
No weekend work is planned, but may be a possibility, subject to progress. Refuse collections will be carried out as normal.
Some other Derby and
Derbyshire routes are also due to undergo roadworks this week, according to the Derby City Council website and roadworks collaboration site one.network.
Roadworks in Hanbury Road, Chaddesden, will mean daytime closures from the junction with Reginald Road South to its junction with Chaddesden Park
Road. The work is due to be completed on Thursday.
According to the Derby City Council website, the road closure will be put in place each morning up until 3.30pm. A diversion route will be in place via Hanbury Road, Chaddesden Park Road, Oakleigh Avenue, Reginald Road South, Hanbury Road, and the same in the opposite direction.
Temporary traffic lights will be in operation in Derby Road,
Chellaston, at the junction with Sutton Avenue as Severn Trent Water works are carried out. The utility repair and maintenance works are due to be completed by 3pm on Thursday. Derby City Council will be repairing the road surface along part of High Street, Chellaston, at its junction with School Lane. Work is scheduled to take place from Friday, July 8 until Tuesday, July 12. Three-way traffic control stop/go boards will be in force to allow the works to be carried out.
The A619 between Baslow and Bakewell has been shut at the junction of the A6020 and B6048 for the latest stage of work to improve road safety. Diversions will be in place until work is due to be completed on Sunday, July 17.
