School still outstanding after all these years!
LANDAU FORTE COLLEGE PUPILS WERE PRAISED FOR THEIR ‘EXEMPLARY BEHAVIOUR’
A DERBY school has retained its “outstanding” grading more than a decade after it was last inspected in 2012, when it also received the same top result from Ofsted inspectors.
Landau Forte College, which opened in 1992 as a city technology college, was also “outstanding” in 2008 following its conversion to an academy in 2006.
The latest inspection took place in March and the newly published report has left staff and pupils celebrating after inspectors wrote: “Pupils thrive at this school”, “show highly positive attitudes to learning” and also have “tenacity, modesty, empathy and manners”.
The report said: “The school is inclusive. Pupils from different backgrounds learn about each other.
“They identify commonalities and celebrate differences.
“Pupils make a tangible difference by con- fidently sharing their lived experi- ence with others; this benefits the whole school community.”
Inspectors also commended the school’s leadership team, saying
they were “insistent” on making continuous improvements to the school, even when they know the school is already performing exceptionally well.
Alison Brannick, principal of Landau Forte College Derby, said: “I am so proud to receive this report from Ofsted which highlights the great work we see taking place every day here. I would like to thank all the staff and students for their dedication and hard work, and it is fantastic to see this effort reflected in
the Ofsted report. Everyone here is committed to ensuring the best possible education for our children and we know that the school will continue to thrive.”
Landau Forte College, which is based in Fox Street, has 1,250 students and is over-subscribed annually. It admits pupils from across the city, with an emphasis on half of them coming from the five innercity wards.
Sarah Findlay-Cobb, chief executive of the Landau Forte Charitable Trust, said: “We are delighted with this excellent Ofsted report which rightly recognises the success of the school in all areas. We offer our congratulations to the staff and students at the school.”
