NAJ COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT
Chris Sellors of jewellers CW Sellors was recently appointed Vice Chair of the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ). Chris, with over 35 years’ experience in the jewellery business, has been at the forefront of the design, manufacture, retail and promotion of British gemstones – with particular links to Derbyshire’s Blue John and Yorkshire’s Jet gemstones.
As the UK’S jewellery industry can often feel London- and Birmingham-centric, the role of Vice Chair will provide an opportunity for Chris to offer a hands-on approach in the development of the British jewellery trade.
In addition to the ongoing design and planning of CW Sellors’ new
Jewellery Design Centre of Excellence at Carsington, Chris recently oversaw work on W Hamond’s new Museum of Whitby Jet, set in the refurbished Wesley Hall on Church Street in Whitby.
Chris said, ‘In such challenging times, the importance of keeping British jewellery design and manufacturing at the forefront of the UK jewellery industry was a key incentive for taking up the role. Whether it’s manufacturing, retail, education, valuations or hallmarking standards, it is important one reputable body – of which I feel privileged to be a part – is there to oversee the challenges.’
