Bracelets with a message
Creative Plymouth resident Lucy Vane is hoping to support local charities with her bracelet making enterprise A Friend in Bead.
Lucy discovered the therapeutic benefits of making friendship bracelets after she was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder following a family tragedy.
Now she hopes to support charities Young Minds and The Bereavement Counselling Service with a percentage of the proceeds from selling her bracelets, which contain empowering messages.
Lucy, from St Judes, hopes to kick start her fledgling business with help from the community and has launched a fundraising campaign on Gofundme.
And it seems she is living in the right place – as research commissioned by the social fundraising platform found Plymouth’s residents had the best intentions in the country, claiming to do an average of 14.6 acts of kindness per month, compared to a national average of 11.1.
