Keep an eye on overnight temperatures. Ensure tender plants are either undercover or protected from the elements.

Keep on top of leaf collecting. A build-up of leaves will damage lawns and smaller plants and the resulting leaf mold can be used to improve soil structure. Cover ponds with netting to prevent leaf litter from clogging up this important habitat.

Inspect trees and shrubs. Look out for dead or damaged material and signs of fungus. Seek professional advice for anything that you can’t safely remove. Ventilate the greenhouse on warmer days to reduce humidity and the risk of disease. Avoid walking on your lawn if it is blanketed by heavy frost or snow, as this will damage the grass beneath.
