If ev­ery sheet of wrap­ping pa­per used in the UK were laid end to end, they would stretch 227,000 miles — enough to cir­cle the world nine times.

In the UK, we send 5 mil­lion tonnes of pa­per to land­fill ev­ery year. More than 8,000 tonnes of pa­per are used at Christ­mas.

On av­er­age, it takes six ma­ture trees to make a tonne of pa­per. This means ap­prox­i­mately 50,000 trees will be used this year.
