TWO UPCOMING SALES TO LOOK OUT FOR

-

Lot 3178 Husky (Corgi Juniors) “Batman and Robin” No 3002 2-piece gift set.

SHORTLY after we go to press with this issue, there are two specialist diecast sales coming up at Vectis – and we will certainly be keeping an eye on both.

On 21st January 2021, as part of the TV& film plus specialist diecast including the Tees Valley Collection, a very rare early issue Husky Batman Gift Set is up for auction. The 2-piece set, No 3002, includes a black Batmobile with blue-tinted windscreens, Batman and Robin figures, knobbly grey plastic wheels, towing a Batboat on its trailer.

Still sealed in its blister pack, the models appear to be in mint condition, and the backing/header card itself is described as “excellent plus”, despite having a small pen price mark to the top righthand corner. The estimate is, not surprisingly, set at £700£800.

Just eight days later, on the 29th, as part of the Philippe Sergeant Matchbox Collection, a similarly very rare ‘reverse-coloured’ Matchbox Regular Wheels No 13d

Dodge BP Wreck Truck, with the harder-to-find amber rooflight, is up for grabs.

Dating from 1970, it is one of the last produced before the Superfast version was released. The cab is painted green, as are the type B jibs, and it features a dark red plastic hook, turquoise green windows and lemon yellow rear body, adorned with BP labels.

Described as “excellent plus”, it has 45-tread black plastic wheels with crimped axles, and it comes in an excellent type F2 box. The estimate is £2000-£2400.

There are plenty more astonishing items to be found in both auctions, and we’ll bring you the highlights of these in the next issue.
