A very rare diecast model of the classic Fiat 238 as a school bus (“scuolabus”), by Mercury. Released under its Speedy banner, the bus is a well-modelled, one-piece casting painted in the traditional yellow for an Italian school bus. Flanked to the rear on either side with “SCUOLA ELEMENTARE”MAFFEI” paper labels (no signs of scuffing to the edges) in excellent condition, as is the model with immaculate paintwork throughout. The car is mint lovely glossy red paintwork, complete with the famous white stripe , excellent chrome front and back bumpers with nice clear unmarked windows. Set is complete with all three original figures - Starsky crouched pointing gun, Hutch standing with gun and baddie in 'hands on roof' stance. All in excellent condition, still firmly attached to stands. Grey base is unmarked and the box is excellent, with strong bright colours on the header card. Three different variations of the model, all near mint - 1) gloss blue with #9 'Phantom' labels, slightly cloudy windows with light tan interior and charcoal base, 2) metallic green with 'Seagull' labels, clear windows with tan interior and gloss black base, 3) gloss white with #9 Dunlop/Shell/ Ford labels, clear windows with light tan interior and gloss black base.
