TRIO OF TRANSPORTERS

-

JUST thought you'd like to see my newly acquired Stance Hunters Fiat 642 Bartoletti Transporter lined up with the 1/43 Old Cars Ferrari one that I've had for years and the 1/90 Schuco version in Maserati livery. I think they make a good display together. The only other model of this vehicle that I'm aware of is the amazing 1/18 version by CMC, but I can't afford either the huge three figure sum that they command or afford the space that I'd need to display it! Although I admit I'm a bit puzzled by the sudden popularity of 1/64, I must confess the Stance Hunters model is really excellent and a lot more convincing than the 1/43 Old Cars version, which, when compared with the Stance Hunters model, seems pretty basic and not particularly accurate. I've loaded the Old Cars with Brumm Ferraris of the period, but can't find a suitable load for the Schuco. The Stance Hunters 642 would look fantastic with a load of black period Ferraris on board but for the time being I'll load it with 1/64 Kyosho Fiats as they offer the same level of detail. I can't find any photographic proof that there was in fact an actual black Ferrari version and I'd love to know whether the real vehicle existed or not and the reason for the black paintwork. My only criticism of the model is that there is no information about the real vehicle and no instructions included on how and where to mount the various mirrors on the cab which come in a separate bag, I'll need to do a bit of research before I get the glue out I think. I'm looking forward to seeing your version, Rick, with the three Matchbox No.73 Ferraris.

ED Wow, a fabulous line up there, and I agree that the Stance Hunters model is stunning, especially at the small scale modelled. Thanks for the reminder about the Matchbox Ferraris – now I’m back from holiday, I need to get back to my extending line up of projects! Back soon...
