a wide-aper­ture prime lens is a broadly use­ful op­tic for shoot­ing hand­held in low am­bi­ent light­ing. even when scenes seem well lit by street­lights, the shut­ter speed at mid-range ISO set­tings can be sur­pris­ingly low. in­vest­ing in a 35mm, 45mm or 50mm f1.4 will en­able sharper shots when work­ing un­sup­ported.
