NIKON Z MOUNT
TALKING POINT…
At 55mm, the Z mount is significantly wider than the F mount (47mm). The decision to change mount was made to remove a major restriction enforced upon Nikon’s lens engineers. it means that there’s scope for faster lenses to be made. The F mount, for example, limits lenses to f1.4 or f1.2 at best. The new mount enables lenses with apertures of up to f0.95.
Thankfully for Nikon DsLR photographers, Nikon has created the FTZ mount adapter. This retails for £269/$250, but the price drops to £100/$150 when it’s bought with the camera. even better news is that the camera performs extremely well with lenses mounted via the adapter. we shot a football match using the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 e FL eD and it did a great job: focusing was quick and accurate so we got sharp images.
