SHOOT CREATIVE NEWBORN PORTRAITS
Take adorable portraits of newborn babies safely using simple setups

In this tutorial, you will learn how to take creative portraits of newborn babies safely. More than any other genre of photography, newborns require special care and handling.
The ideal age for a newborn photo session is between 7-14 days old. During these early days, the babies tend to be at their sleepiest, making the newborn session run more smoothly. However, it is still possible to get those sleepy curled-up poses with slightly older newborns – they may not curl up so easily, as muscle tone develops, so poses would need to be modified to suit.
For this shoot, we are using a full-frame Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with a 24-70L zoom. You can also choose to shoot with prime lenses – either the 50mm or 35mm. Just make sure that the lens you choose always allows you to be within arm’s reach of the baby.
Safety is paramount. Never leave a baby unattended and if you need to step away at any point, ask the parents to ensure the baby is safe and comfortable.
