If you shoot sport or wildlife, a monopod is a useful addition to your kit that will take the weight off your camera and lens off your arms, while still giving you plenty of freedom of movement. The Alan is a high-quality carbon fibre monopod that collapses down to 45cm for easy transportation. It extends to 1.49m, which means some taller photographers may need to stoop, but that often feels natural when you’re looking in a viewfinder.

The four chunky twist locks are quick and easy to use, so the Alan is ready for action in seconds. It screws directly into the base of a camera or lens tripod foot, but it can also be used with an optional tripod head if you prefer.

Despite weighing just 600g, the Alan has an impressive payload of 60kg and the broad rubberised grip at the top is comfortable to hold in all weather.
