TOKINA OPERA 50MM F1.4 FF NOW AVAILABLE
The first of Tokina’s high-end Opera lenses goes on sale
Back in September, Tokina announced a new line of premium full-frame optics that are designed to partner high-resolution full-frame DSLRs like the Canon EOS 5DS R and Nikon D850. Now the first of the new series, the Opera 50mm f1.4 FF, is arriving in stores across the globe with a retail price of £879/$949.
According to Tokina, the new lens incorporates its latest advancements in optical engineering and electronic design, featuring a new ring-shaped ultrasonic motor for fast, quiet focusing and the company’s new Extreme Low Reflection (ELR) coating technology to reduce ghosting and flare.
Available in Canon EF and Nikon F mounts, the Tokina Opera 50mm f1.4 FF is constructed from 15 elements in nine groups, with three SD (Super-low Dispersion) glass elements and one aspherical glass element in the rear-focus lens group. It also has nine aperture blades that form a rounded diaphragm for attractive bokeh and a 77mm filter thread. The Nikon version has an electric diaphragm designed specifically for the mount to ensure precise aperture control.
The lens is also weather-sealed and its focusing is internal, which means the 80 x 107.5mm dimensions are constant.
