Alter lighting position for differential shadows and detailing

Point-and-shoot photography almost always features front-on lighting. Place the light source behind your subject for an eye-catching wash of light across the frame. This can either be the sun, in outdoor images, or an off-camera flash aimed towards the lens. This produces an attractive airy feel, with detailing highlights on the subject.
