INVEST IN ADAPTORS

Realise new potential from your existing lenses by extending their capabilities with common adapting accessories

-

TELECONVERTERS

Probably the most well-known of adaptors, focal-length teleconverters can help to provide additional magnification for a higher zoom ratio. Often available in 1.4x and 2x variants, these enable frame-filling compositions from even midrange zooms. There is some light loss, with 2x models cutting two stops of shutter speed.

MACRO DIOPTRES

A lesser-used accessory for higher macro magnifications is a screw-on lens dioptre. These function as any other thread-based filter, adding convenient, quickly changeable magnification for closer-framed macro subjects. Multiple units can be combined for greater power, though be mindful of sharpness loss.

TUBES AND BELLOWS

Extension tubes fit between the lens and camera body to decrease focusing distance. These can be stacked, with a larger distance between the lens and sensor offering higher power. Bellows provide much closer focusing, albeit with weight and bulk penalties.
